A Week of Christmas Books–Christmas books for teen boys

One group of kids it’s difficult to satisfy with books in general are boys. So I decided to search out some that would appeal strictly to teen male readers.

Wendell, Santa’s Lost Elf: A Novel

Written by Michael J.JSea Bosco: It’s 1952 and summer vacation looms, full of possibilities. When best friends Josh and Billy find an old, collapsed cabin in the middle of the woods, they decide to search the rubble for treasure. They look for weeks and eventually find a chest buried within the cabin’s foundation. But instead of treasure, it’s filled with old journals that belong to Wendell, a Christmas elf who came to town fifty-six years ago with Santa but fell off the sleigh and was lost.

Josh and Billy begin reading through the journals in hopes of unearthing a clue that will lead them to the elf. Soon, the entire town learns about their discovery, and now everyone wants to help find Wendell.

Locating him turns out to be an easy task compared with what they face next: finding the magical gold chain, that when reconnected to the watch, will allow Wendell to become an elf again and live forever. With a blizzard quickly approaching, the whole town pitches in to help get Wendell home before it’s too late!

Merry Christmas, Alex Cross

We’re all familiar with James Patterson and his character Alex Cross. This is very appropriate for older teen boys.

It’s Christmas Eve and Detective Alex Cross has been called out to catch someone who’s robbing his church’s poor box. That mission behind him, Alex returns home to celebrate with Bree, Nana, and his children. The tree decorating is barely underway before his phone rings again–a horrific hostage situation is quickly spiraling out of control. Away from his own family on the most precious of days, Alex calls upon every ounce of his training, creativity, and daring to save another family. Alex risks everything–and he may not make it back alive on this most sacred of family days. Alex Cross is a hero for our time, and never more so than in this story of family, action, and the deepest moral choices. MERRY CHRISTMAS, ALEX CROSS will be a holiday classic for years to come.

Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol

Tom Mula gives us another part of Dicken’s Christmas Carol.

“Scrooge? I have to redeem old Scrooge? The one man I knew who was worse than I was? Impossible! I’ll never be able to…”

DICKENS ONLY GAVE US part of the story! Chained, shackled, and condemned to a hellish eternity, Ebenezer Scrooge’s mean, sour, pruney old business partner has only one chance to free himself: to escape his own chains, he must first redeem Scrooge.

So begins a journey of laughter and terror, redemption and renewal, during which Scrooge’s heart, indeed, is opened; but not before Marley-in this irreverent, funny and deeply moving story-discovers his own.

Season’s Christmas Quest

A new release from Tara Pollard.

Season, a bright-eyed, golden dog of mixed breed, is best friends with his master’s little girl, Melissa. But just days before Christmas, a canopy of darkness covers the skies, ash blankets the ground, and the land seems to wither and die. Worse yet, his beloved friend grows seriously ill. Melissa needs sunshine and clean air to survive. Desperate to save her, Season makes a fateful decision to embark on a dangerous quest to search for a way to keep her alive. Now, he cannot help but wonder if he has just made the biggest mistake of his life. Season knows the darkness is a rare catastrophe of historic proportions and becomes determined to find a way to stop it. After he sets out on a frightening journey of magic and mystery, he encounters battles with heartless forest animals that constantly test his courage, perseverance, and intuition. Season knows it is a perilous world in the wilds of the forest, but he is about to discover just how dangerous it really is. In this inspirational tale, Season must uncover the mystery as to what exactly dwells upon the mountains of the dark forest in order to save his little girl-and possibly the world.
